Delteq Ignition...Does yours work?

Well I've been searching on this Delteq topic for a little bit. And it looks like there are some people that can get it to work, and there are others that cannot. How many of you actually have the system, and it works to what you expected? Did everything work on the first shot? How long did it take you to install? Did you see any benefits from it (can rev higher, better MPG etc...)?

Anything else I should know about the system?

Or maybe if anyone has any useful threads on a different forum, that would help also. I've read the ones where the system didn't work, just want to see if there are actually people out there that got it to work and they're satisfied with it.

It works for me and did so the first time I cranked the car up. 2 hours to install-but I rerouted all the plug wires. My car runs smoother up top and my dyno charts are also smoother up top. Some people are installing it with questionable optisparks.

I love mine, i get about 30-31 mpg on the highway

No probs whatso ever, maybe ur friends need to replace those sucky wires
that come w/ the delteq w/ some taylor customs

and the guys at ThunderRacing said that my dyno charts were unusually smooth compared to pure optispark

Re: Delteq Ignition...Does yours work?

Mine worked great, the only issue I had was that I mislabeled the coils and had them hooked up wrong, once that was fixed the car ran better than it had for a long long time.

Re: Delteq Ignition...Does yours work?

Mine worked fine. Just followed the directions carefully to make sure I did everything right. Fired right up.

So besides what WOT said about seeing a smoother ignition up top, anyone see any benefit? How long have you guys had it?

Re: Delteq Ignition...Does yours work?

I set mine up on my 383 a while back. Its hard to say because I never did a before and after w/o other mods (aka 383).

It works fine, I think I might need to take out timing bc of stronger spark, but who knows. I havent had any problems. I recomend it.

Mine took about 2 hours to install and has run great for 2 years with no problems. Th main benifit of the system is not having to worry about the cap/rotor on your Optispark going bad agian. My car is also imune to rain and big puddles now.

It works right, that's the benifit.

Re: Delteq Ignition...Does yours work?

I am very pleased with the perfomance of my Deltec system. No problems so far and none expected.
I'm using the Accel 300+ wires for a BBC under the header application for my radiator mounted coils. Nice wires.

Re: Delteq Ignition...Does yours work?

you'll be able to reach higher RPM potential than ever imagined with the OPTI-crap. the factory coil sucks *****...cant' charge fast enough for higher RPMs. once youget rid of the ONE coil/opti setup you'll be fine. you just need the opti for factory timing issues and the coil will be replaced by 4 seperate coils used in "wasted spark mode". much better system than the single coil design.

Re: Delteq Ignition...Does yours work?

I ran mine for one summer and the car ran wonderful, put like 15K miles on it.

I'm debating on what I'm going to do when the car goes back together though, I might keep the delteq or I might go with a coil-per-plug setup; all depends if I go with a FAST system or not.
