DataMaster shows LEAN LTERM?

The car is hard to start but never stalls. It sometimes idles rough until you rev the engine and then it runs fine. There does not seem to be any relationship to outside temperature or engine temperature. It can happen any time.

I ran DataMaster last night and noticed that the LTERM for left and right banks are consistently in the green zone (i.e. lean) and fluctuate around 148 and 143 respectively. The left is consistently about 5 clicks higher than the right. The STerm values seem to fluctuate normally around 128.

The LTerm values are this high even in open loop mode. If I am interpreting this correctly, it would appear that I have a vacuum leak or possibly a problem with a cylinder on the left side not firing causing the left side to be more lean than the right side.

I don't understand why the car smooths out after I rev it though. Maybe an EGR valve sticking?

I could really use some help in troubleshooting this. Does anyone have any ideas? I have the DataMaster log if that helps...

I assume you mean "DataMaster".... if you send me the log as a ".csv" file, I will look at it. I can not open ".uni" files.

Re: DataMaster shows LEAN LTERM?

Fred,

Did you have time to look at my DataMaster log? I am stumped by this problem and really need an outside pair of eyes on this one.

Based on the LTERM values being around being in the high 140s and low 150s at idle (cell 18), it looks like a possible air leak somewhere but the MAF and MAP only seem to be about 15" Hg apart which I think is normal manifold vacuum for the mods I have.

I don't hear an exhaust leak. I recently corrected one so I don't know what else this could be.

Does anybody have any ideas?

For the record, the fuel pressue is normal so I don't think there is a problem with leaking injectors or the FPR. Also, O2 sensors look OK to me in the DataMaster log. The car runs fine after the intial rough idle and I rev it once or twice. It almost seems like it could be the EGR sticking but there is no evidence of this in the DataMaster log or any SES codes.

Thanks for the help.

Jeff

Last night I checked for arcing from the plug wires in the dark and I don't see any flashing. It appears all cylinders are firing fine. This problem is intermittment when the car first starts whether it is cold or hot. I don't get it .
