Help w/ cat gutting.
No emmissions in FL... I want to gut my cats this weekend and I've read up on some posts that people have problems with their engine check lights and O2 sensors. What's up with that? Would it change my A/F ratio or anything? How's an O2 simm work and how much does it cost?
Thanks,
Alex

OBD2 computers are required to monitor vehicle emissions. Therefore, if you gut your cat, the post cat o2 sensors are going to see a problem with emissions= check engine light. .
The post cat o2 sensors do not modify a/f ratio. They are there just to make sure that the cat is doing its job. Plugging o2 simulators into the post cat o2 harness will make the computer think that you still have a cat so you won't throw a check engine light.
A word of advice, though; you might want to replace the the cats with an offroad pipe or save up for some headers and a y-pipe.
Cats are expensive if you ever need to replace them if you move or are selling the car.
