Unhappy DAMN CAR, i think its dead

My car still wont start, It all started when i was going WOT on the freeway and suddenly a big bang, and it just turned of. Then i trired to start it up again and it did but will loud bangs, seemed like it was going to explde or something. Next day i tried starting it up again and now it just sounded like when you try starting the engine when its already on, so i was told it was the starter. Took it out and works fine. So i tried to manually move the flywheel, i put the car in neutral and tried moving it. it was preatty hard and only moved a lil bit. Then i tried moving the belt on the engine which was really hard and i doubt it moved.

Do you think my engine is dead?

You may want to drain the oil and see if you get any metal chips out of the pan. Maybe put a magnet up to the oil to collect any chips. Hopefully you won't find any big chunks. It might also be an opti. I've never had one go out on me so maybe someone else can help here.

I think I've heard of this happening to people. It's the rotor in the opti I bet it took a crap. Take it off and open it up and see.

how many miles? You could have broke the timing chain, if there are a lot of miles on the engine.

I wouldnt call it many miles, more like a ****load. 168k to be more exact.

If the opti was dead would it cause the car to run really really rought for a while then just not allow the car to start? When i turn the key i just get the starter sound and nothing else. could this be the opti?

Yes, with that many miles I would say the opti is toast. I also would say you might have jumped a tooth on the timing chain. This would also cause the same problems. Plus it would change the time of the opti.

Its really hard to say what went.. Big Bang's and Pop's are not a good sign first of all.. You should be able to turn the engine over freely.. i'd drain the oil like said above make sure everything's kosher.. PUll the plug's and try to turn it over.. Hard to say..

same thing happened to me, my water pump went out and leaked on the opti when it cracked... after that the opti died as well... Thank god it was all under warranty, but now that I know a little more about the car it wouldn't be all that hard to replace honestly. I would check the water pump, but I am not sure how you would do that hehe
maybe check the coolant level? pour more in and see if it leaks back out?

only thing I could think of... hope this helps

maybe you can rent a fly wheel turner at a local parts store and if the engine won't turn over easy with that then maybe something is messed up with the chain, is that the original chain? it will get a little hard to turn on the compression strocks but I think you can take out the plugs to make it turn over easier. But you should be able to feel if something was off.
