Damn BLMs and idle!

welll ever since heads/cam my blms at idle have been on some kinds of drugs.

Blms while driving are all pefrect...around 128 everywhere BUT IDLE!!!!

Left side sometime bottoms out at 108 while right sits at 126.

Sometimes left will be at 120 and right wil be at 136 (wouldnt mind that)

And sometimes i get left 111 and right like 140.

WTF is going on? Any ideas what to start doing? I tried messing with the TB screw with no effects on the split at all (stock TB). Car also sometimes comes down to 500 rpm at idle and goes back up. IAC is around 90.......

Any ideas? Both o2s are brand new (less then 1k) and i am running FMS 30# injectors. I guess i can swap injectors and see if the problem swiches sides...i just dont understand why the blms are so damn random!!

Thanks
Marcin

I'm sensing Deja Vu. I'm having the EXACT same issue. Is the cam a Joe O?? I'm thinking it's going to end up being an idle fueling related issue, probably getting some reversion too if the cam is one of the bigger ones. At least I think that may be my problem.

I'm having the idle problem even though I've fixed my vacuum leaks. I need to check my BLMs and see what they're up to.

The IAC should be lower. If it is a aftermarket TB make sure there is a bleeder hole for the IAC. Check for any gunk in the TB butterfly walls and butterfly edges. open in up all the way and feel the walls. If you feel anything clean it off. I had some in mine today which made my IAC stay in the mid 80's. After i cleaned them up I saw low 60's.

Re: Damn BLMs and idle!

I've had the same problem since I had my motor built. Been through the throttle body, countless hours of PCM tuning, and checked for leaks. I was running an open breather on the valve cover, removed that and put the stock setup back on, that helped a little.

Someone said its "cam reversion", tricking the PCM. I have learned to deal with it. As long as you BLMs aren't maxed out(108 or 160), the computer is doing its job of compensating. I did install a BLM locker for WOT though.

Quite true, the computer is compensating. Or rather if they're not maxed, it's able to compensate without running out of limits.

What's the BLM locker you mentioned though??? Would it possibly work on a 93?

Re: Damn BLMs and idle!

The BLM locker locks the BLMs at 128/128 under WOT. You load it with LT1 edit. Do a search in the programming forum.

No use to me then. I can't use LT1 Edit.

Re: Damn BLMs and idle!

fixed the problem

took the TB apart, cleaned the IAC passage and drilled the hole in the TB little bit bigger. Idle is back to normal, so are the BLMS....Left side is up to 126 right at 136 or so. IAC counts went down a lot..now at 68 and 100 with a/c on. Car doesnt try to die anymore and no more gas smell.

OK, I don't feel so bad about mine then, I was only sitting at 124/134 after playing with the throttle stop.

you download the blm locker. then write the file. then use the blm locker on it.
when you start the blm locker, a box with all files listed will show up. then you go down to the bottom and you will see where it say lt1 files, tis is what files itis selcted to show you (note lt1edit files are used by the blm locker as default). just click the arrow and choose bin files because that is what your using. double click the file and let the locker do its thing.

works for me.
