DAMMIT! Fuel injectors....

I think i have a bad injector on cyl 7..... my car has a dead cylinder for sure, same type of thing as if you pulled out a spark plug wire.... but... the spark plug wire is getting spark, and the connector for the fuel injector is getting juice... no codes thrown or anything, but the car sputters a bit when at idle and while driving... as i said, almost like a misfire, but the wire has spark to it, and the plugs and wires are both damn near brand new, not even a month old.. i have bought the injector... auto zone (shh... i know... but hey, for $75 what can u say?) but before installing, i want to get some opinions on whether or not anyone thinks its REALLY a bad injector.... the whole thing started after i gave it WOT to pass another car going to work...

I wonder what bob has to say.... lol please man, just spare me the "i know more than you" routine.... my mind is fried, life has been hell lately and i just started a new job... i really dont feel like breakin out the book and trying to cure the problem on my own..... friendly advice is what im askin for man, if you can provide it? im all ears....

oh, and i left out that when i pull out the connector for that fuel injector, i see no difference in idle or performance..... but i do whenever i take out any other connector... idle goes to sh*t.. so yeah, had to let that be known as well

Re: DAMMIT! Fuel injectors....

You know that a bad plug will do the same thing. You may have spark to the wire when removed and tested but the plug may not be firing. It's always good to plug a spark tester in series with the plug in question. This will tell you if the plug is firing without removing it. So at this point it is a toss up. Do you want to test it by removing the fuel rail and then the injector or do you want to remove the plug and replace it?

I had the same thing happen to me- it was because the belt ate one of my spark wires, I just used the injector connectors to test which cylinder wasn't firing.

Swap the injector to a different cyl and see if that cyl misses.

Re: DAMMIT! Fuel injectors....

hmm... i would like to take you up on that offer... but it wasnt the problem.... ill still take em off your hands though for future use....

it was a crispy wire from the exhaust manifold.... so i replaced it. BUT i had to go through the trouble of replacing the injector to find out...... (i know.... shoulda checked the frickin wire first, but i was convinced it was the injector by a mechanic friend of mine..) but all is well, i took the injector back (after an alchohol bath) and got all the cash for it... so the problem was only 5 bucks in parts... vs the $82.50 with tax.. thanks alot for the help guys... and 944v8inDFW lemme know bout those injectors

I usually give away my "good junk" to whoever needs it to fix a problem. So whoever still has a problem.....
