Dal vs. GM Direct, I thought Dal would be cheaper; What about Jason C. ?
I ordered a ton of stuff from Dal, I was under the impression that he was competitive with Jason Cromer, and at least cheaper than GM Parts Direct. I think I mainly based this off the price of his Opti's, I guess I should have looked further into it before I placed my order.
Anyways, for those who don't want to do the legwork, here is a breakdown:
http://paradox.shacknet.nu/dave88lx/...83/dalvsgm.htm
I can't complain about his service or his turn-around and getting my parts out to me, he had them out within a couple days.
Other thing that kind of bugged me, I know it's not much, but in the game every bit helps...he didn't catch that I wanted everything, including the gaskets, so he had to ship it in another order, which incurred another handling charge of $7 + another $7.26 in freight.
Not complaining really, I just figured that he would be cheaper than GM Parts Direct.
Anyone know how Jason Cromer's prices compare to GM Direct, and does he also charge handling fees? I'm not talking about just the big stuff, but with the type of items I bought...As you can see it's about a $45 difference...
Thanks!
Dave

i have a price quote from DAL on the 1LE ac delete pulley GM p/n 10115875
dals: $38.18 plus approximately $6.50 for shipping. total $44.68
gmparsdirect: $34.09 plus $7.95 shipping. total $42.04
a friend of mine can get this part from the dealership (she works there and gets part at "wholesale" prices) for about $42 plus tax.

Even though GMPD has cheaper prices, they make up for it in their shipping charges. I'm sure that, even with Dal's shipping mistake, you most likely still made it out ahead in the long run.
-I guess I'll go ahead and add up GMPD's shipping charges on those parts before I stick my foot in my mouth.
I am curious...

The grand total for GMPD on those parts including S&H is $450.29 ($476.43 for NC residents).
Dal has a grand total of $436.43 including the $25 for S&H, so you really saved $13.86 by going thru Dal.
That's assuming I didnt screw up the part quantities. Pretty close, really. Would have saved a little bit more had there not been a shipping mistake.

As for shipping quantities, everything is "1" except for the water pump gaskets, and the O-ring seals for the coolant tube, that should be 4. Valve covers = 2...
Damn so GM Direct S&H is that high eh?!? damn!

So you bought from Dal for 411.43 + 25 s&h for total $436.43
If I did not make any mistakes, the same order from GMPD would have been $459.41 with s&h.
You still saved money, even with paying the extra s&h from Dal.

Yeah, you also had 2 oxygen sensors. I already closed the window, but I might have left out the second waterpump gasket. Doh.
I really dont like how that website is set up --it wont automatically change the part quantity if you have two of the same part number. It just deletes the duplicate.
Either way, I think you did alright.

I know VanDevere makes a little extra percentage on their stuff (so it looks), but it's still cheap and I don't have to make a trip to the dealer (where I can't buy at wholesale prices anyway).
I have purchased from Dal for several years (started back when he was with Lambert Buick). All I have to do is send him an email with what I want. He already has my billing info on file. One thing I am always sure to do, is make my instructions very explicit. That way there is no confusion. I have always gotten what I ordered. plus I can always call if there is a problem.
I have ordered from Jason, too, but only by phone. I don't think email works too good by him. He might be the cheapest, though.

That chart is kind of confusing...

Those columns don't make any sense?

Jason has never charged me handling.. only shipping[and the proper amount for shipping also]
LT4 starter for 149.95 + 10.00 shipping[Fla to NJ, 9 lbs] total 159.95
gmpartsripoffdirect:
144.77 + 28.95 = 173.72
I never have[nor will] use the latter..

For what it's worth, I usually order from Dal. I only mention this because I live about 2 miles from the GMPartsDirect dealership, and I have to pay full shipping costs because they wont let you pick up parts to save on shipping, or if you need parts immediately. In fact, I have to pay more because I have to pay state taxes. I just dont like a business that works like that. just my opinion.
