cylinder head question

cylinder head question

what does it mean when they say cylinder heads are deported. Also what is better a 3 angle valve job or a 5 angle valve job??

Cylinder heads are PORTED, meaning the passages are opened up in the right areas to increase flow (reduce restrictions).

It's also the punishment for not using the search function or Google to find the answers to basic questions...

i know what porting is but there was a set of heads i found for sale that were milled down and the guy said they were deported so i was wondering what the h@#$ he was talking about.

Either spell-check decided to "fix" his post or he made a typo

There's a great article at http://www.sa-motorsports.com/diyport.shtm that explains the basics of porting. I think it makes a good FAQ for people wanting to know what the porting buzzwords mean. I don't recommend that anyone pick up a dremel and start carving chunks out of the only set of heads based solely on this article. You can seriously damage the heads and flow if you are not careful.

i know what porting is i just didnt know what he meant when he said deprting. It didn't make ant sense to me.
