Cylinder head banjo bolts
Re: Cylinder head banjo bolts
"Yes you should. I put teflon sealant. All Good..."
Hmmmm, that's interesting. I've never done that to mine. I have put a real light coat of RTV on the sealing washers before so they wouldn't be damaged when torqued down and reseal better. I'm sure it doesn't hurt to put the teflon on there though.

Looking at how it all works, the round seals do all the sealing, so thread sealant really has no purpose in this case, IMO.
Re: Cylinder head banjo bolts
>The sealant shouldn't be required since there are 2 seals sandwiching the banjo bolt they are rubber and should keep the sealant from leaking through the threads , but would it hurt to put some sealant on the threads ? why not do it ?
Re: Cylinder head banjo bolts
I would not put any kind of sealant on the threads. If you block the holes you might create hot spots in the heads. If you are reusing the washers, a little rtv will help.

I did it more as a lubricant than a sealant. I had a hard time getting mine apart when I did my heads and cam and had no access to neverseize at the time of re-assembly so I knew it won't hurt and can only help. I basically stripped the head of my banjo bolt trying to take it off so the teflon sealant should prevent that from happening to me again. But everyone is right, now that I think about it. Those are seals already with the bolts. Actually if you want to do it right they should be replaced with new ones.... Still don't think it hurts any to use it...
