Cylinder 1 misfire help please......
Cylinder 1 misfire help please......
My car had a misfire on it. It still had the stock plugs and wires, so i decided to change the plugs and wires. The service engine soon light was on so i had the shop scan it. It said that cylinder 1 and 8 had a misefire. So I put in accel 9000 wires and autolite platinum plugs. It got rid of the cylinder 8 misfire but the cylinder 1 misfire seems more noticable now. I hooked up a timing light up to the cylinder 1 wire and it had power. I have no idea what it can be. Do you think it can be my fuel injectors being clogged? Or would a clogged fuel filter cause just 1 cylinder to misfire? I'm hopeing something isn't wrong with the engine because i just bought the car 1 month ago, and already had to replace the clutch. Any advice would be extremely appreciated.
I would guess it is probably ignition related. A clogged fuel filter would effect all the cylinders. It could be an injector however. You could swap your #1 injector for another cylinder and see if the misfire follows the injector. They are pretty easy to get at. If the problem is still cylinder #1, I would do a compression test on it to make sure you don't have a compression problem. The first thing I would look at though is the plug and wire to make sure that is not the problem. Good luck!
Well for cleaning the injectors do you think those little bottles you buy at autozone that you poor into your gas tank would work. Or would i have to take it to the shop so they can do that fuel injector clean thing to it.
Well i did a compression test on the #1 cylinder and it read 165. I took out the plug and it had good a good spark. So what other things could it be? Do you think it would be my opti? Or should i take it to the shop and have them do the fuel injector cleaning thing?
