Cutting off Exhaust question

I have a 99 Trans am with the stock exhaust. i am waiting to get the money together for an SLP loudmouth exhaust but I cant take it anymore. I am getting quiet car syndrome. I have heard of people just cutting the exhaust off. where exactly do you make the cut? (taking into consideration that I am going to need to install the SLP loudmouth later.) also, will this hurt my car in any way not having the mufflers installed? thanks

Just wait till you get the loudmouth. You'll regret having a ghetto cutup exhaust system and won't be able to sell it for as much (or at all) as the complete stock system once you swap it for loudmouth.

No, you can just uninstall the stock cat back right now. Although with all the extra noise, I sugguest you have a LT4KM if you don't already have one. GM part number: 16214681

You need to make one cut, somewhere on the over-axle pipe to make sliding it out easy. Otherwise you can just unbolt all the flanges and u-clamps and it'll end up dumping under your passenger seat. Then when you get the SLP exhaust, you can install it.

stangitr,
yeah i have already owned a car with SLP loudmouth, it sounded great. I dont care about being able to sell the stock exhaust. As a matter of fact, I just got back from the muffler shop and I gave the old catback to the guy there after he cut it off.. so trust me i dont care what happens to it. thanks for the replies, it sounds a lot better then before.
