Cutting off exhaust after cat.

Wondering if anyone has cut their catback before it goes over the rear axle and put a muffler on it, and what they fabricated to support the muffler. I poorly fitted my flowmast catback on my car, and now it rattles like nothing else. Wondering if anyone has tried it, and how it worked? Most importantly, what did you use and where did you support the muffler at?

Thank!

It'd be just like a cutout before the rear axle, and you'd dump some weight off the car.

Been there, tried that.

Before you go wasting your money on something that I can almost guarnantee you'll extrememly dislike, just unbolt the exhaust and shove that pipe over for a bit. There's only 2 15mm or 13mm (forget) bolts holding it on after the cat. Takes all of 5 mins... Then go drive around for a bit. At first, it seems extremely cool. Then gets old after awhile..

Pros: Seems extremely loud.
Great 70 muscle car sound

Cons: Always hear it
Rattles interior pieces
No girl will ride in your car for long
People will laugh when they realize your exhaust dumps n the middle of your car
Headaches (note: I have 4 12's in my car and never had any complaints with headaches (great massages though) so I'm pretty noise tolerate...)

I had a cut out right before my muffler near the rear axle. Made the muffler pretty much useless. If you like being noticed I'd do it. Doesn't sound too great. Just loud. As far as rattling and bolting, go to a muffler shop and ask em to weld some parts on. May even do it for free.

I took a sawzall to the intermediate pipe after the cat right before it bent to go up over the axle. I Just cut the lower part of the pipe so just the very top part of the existing pipe was holding the rest of the exhaust still in place. The exhaust basically went through the cat and had a strait pipe going back about another 2-3 feet and then dumping out. Sounds very mean and I get complemented all the time on it. I would assume it sounds just like a cutout but I'm not certain it's exactly the same. Also there's been a few times when the car isn't running and someones like "oh he doesn't have anything done to his car, it's still got the stock exhaust" Until I start her up...then their whole facial expression changes. Nice little bonus.

Not just talking about cutting, wondering if there is a way to cut it before the axle and to mount a muffler on it and to support the muffler...

thats EXACLTY what I did. Except, I enjoyed it A LOT!! Yes, it did rattle the interior like crazy, a little hesitant at first throttle, and the girls liked how the seat vibrated
