Cuts out at high rpms..

My car acts like it is hitting the rev limiter at 6300 and cuts out yet my rev limiter is set at 6800 and on the graph it is still pulling hard when it just all of a sudden cuts out and drops. anybody have any ideas of why this is? It pulls just fine up untill that point and put down 396/375 at 6300. Mods are in the sig.

OMG!!! OPTI!!! L33T HAX0R!

Why on very similar setups did Tibby put down the same HP, but rape you by 40lbs of tq? Thats something else I have been wondering. Or is it a spike on his tq converter. (Never seen his actual graph)

Nick's car pulls until you hit the rev limiter. (Bouces off of it) but datamaster only shows 6300ish, while the pcm is programmed to 6800 (checked myself). Your graph has a pull to 6500 then one to almost 7000 (again there is an error in the reading somewhere....) but on the one that pulls past 6500 the line goes to crap.

Have you outgrown your stock pump? Perhaps the ignition system just can't keep up there? Time for a good coil?

We need to do your fuel filter and check the plugs.

You want me to post your dyno graph?

My vote is for valve float, too small injectors or lack of fuel supply

He has 30s or 32lbs I forget. So injectors are good at this point. He has beehives so I doubt its valve float.... Could be pump though

Re: Cuts out at high rpms..

Maybe someone put a 3 instead of an 8 for the 6800 rpm limiter? lol As far as I know, When it drops off like that it's either lack of fuel or valve float but since we've eliminated one of the two, I'm gonna stand with the fuel pump issue, or perhaps you just need more, like the Walbro 255 everyone typically adds when they get up to that HP range

Hmm well the opti/coil/wires/plugs are new so it is either the pump or like you said the ignition module.. If the pump does not fix it i will try the module. I figure it could use a new pump anyway.

Re: Cuts out at high rpms..

You're running lean from 3500 up. Get the fuel pressure measured first and if it's ok, then send the computer back for reprogramming. The cutting out up top is not your rev limiter and it's not you running out of fuel (although it is lean) it could be some MAJOR knock retard (which I doubt) or valve float.

I have his datamaster log at home. Starts out with 3-4 degrees retard down low. 2degrees by 3k. Then at 4k he hits 0.1 and stays there until 6k. Past 6k he has 0 knock retard.

Re: Cuts out at high rpms..

Well i doubt it is valve float due to the springs being dual coil(forget which ones)
with only 10k on them. My 306 was pulling to 6600 and still climbing when he let off.

And like jeff said, not really any knock retard.

I will check the fuel and my springs to see if anything is broken i guess.
