cuts out at 105
cuts out at 105
so i took the car out this weekend and in 4th gear... at roughly 3 grand a "rev limiter" like action happened and it wouldn't go faster. So my question is (and i am not sure where to post this, i am sorry for that) But what is the thing with this.. everything i have read points to the governor being set at 150. Is this different for 1993? Any input would work, thanks!
Re: cuts out at 105
its got a 150 speedo... and as far as z-rated tires being ordered on it.. i have no clue
But I guess it is nice to know that it can be tuned out.. it will have to be with a chip for my car though.
Thanks much!

Check your glovebox/doorjamb for the RPO codes and use this to see if it came with Z rated tires:

Re: cuts out at 105
it came stock with 235/50R16 so i really don't think they are z-rated (hence the z not being present. Since it is a 1993 formula, it got a slightly narrower tire than the trans am (235 opposed to 245) same wheels though. So I am going to go with the conclusion that my governor is set at roughly 105, even though i have a gauge that will read way beyond that. Next spring I have a list of crap to do to it, as this year came to a close with our first snow today. This fall i have done a slew of BMR and bilstein suspension work.
Next year i'll get a chip for it.
Thanks again!!
