Cutouts?

I have a single cat lt1, I am going to install a set of dual cat slp shorty headers with the matching y-pipe. What does everyone here think of these headers? Second, I have read a lot about exhaust cut-outs. I would love to have a bad-*** sounding car on command. Where do these mount, are they cheap, easy to install? Do they just act as a bypass to the rest of the exhaust system following the cut-out?

They are good depending on which mods you have, if you have cam or more go with LT's. In about a week I will have a set of the SLP shorties + YPipe for sale, they are jet-hot coated, let me know if you are interested. As far as cutout, they are usually put in in the intermediate pipe before it goes over the axle, there is a straight part and thats the easiest place to reach it etc. Just buy one for $30 and spend the $15 at your local muffler shop. Yes they act as a bypass and they sound awesome.

I'm not sure about the headers, but most people put their cut right before the exhaust pipe goes up and over the axle. Yes it does bypass the rest of the exhaust, I got mine for about $30.

You can install it yourself as long as your good at welding on exhaust pipe, but most likely you'll have to take it to a muffler shop. It cost me $30 to get it installed.

It's well worth the $60 total investment

Where is a good place to buy a cut out? Also I have read about cutouts that can be open and closed from in the car. Is this worth it, or otherwise you have to just hop under the car and turn a valve? I already have the headers, thanks though. Do you get more hp or torque after coating?

Just look up electronic cutouts think thats what your referring too..you can buy a cutout anywhere www.summitracing.com www.racenet.net www.tbyrne.com Coating doesnt add more hp or torque lol..it just keeps the headers cool, without it some headers rust out because of the heat produced
