Cutout question.

Ok I have the Loudmouth exhaust for everyday driving, but I kinda got used to that and now I want it a little bit louder. I dont want headers or an orp yet either. So I was wondering if anyone has a cutout before the cat on the y-pipe? I would only be using it for cruising through Seaside or at the track. Would I notice any gains in performance or have to worry about anything with this setup? Also getting rid of the grandma 2.73 gears for 3.42 's so will that help in my 1/4 time?

I dont think there is enough room before the cat.....maybe if you put it in place of the cat, but even then I dont know. Typically guys put the cutout (me included) right before the exhaust goes up and over the rear axle. The loudmouth is already just about as loud as a cutout would be though. If you really want loud then get some headers and wake up the entire neighborhood.

Yeah, there's really no place for the cat on the y-pipe. I'd just put a cutout on the intermediate pipe before it goes over the axle. If you want it louder, pop the cap.

It is not possible. I had the same plan and when I took it to the shop they showed me that there wasn't enough room. Also, there is no real gain for a cut out.....that has been debated a lot...but you won't feel any gains.

There are definately gains if the cutout is put on a stock catback.......but the gains would be quite a bit less if put on an aftermarket catback since it already flows better.
