Cutout Installation

I went to have my cutout installed on my 95 Z28. When they had it on the lift there was no room to put it on before the cat, and its not really worth it to put it after so.... Anyone with a similar cutout (DMH) have it installed, maybe a custom pipe? Thanks

There's still a point to putting it right after the cat...wich stock manifolds and stock y pipe a cutout can't fit before the cat, but you'll still see big gains if you have it put after the cat and when and if you go with headers and a bigger Y pipe you won't lose your cutout if you had it before the cat in the first place...

Well I do have a set of hooker headers and y-pipe that have not been put on yet, so what ur saying is that if i put the cutout right after the cat and then the headers later, it should be ok?

oh yea, that's how I did mine...you'll be fine! Assuming you have a 3" cat-back you'll be able to retain your cutout if you place it after the cat...if you somehow put it before the cat right now you'd lose it when you removed your stock Y pipe...so there's no point...

Will you be removing your cat completely after your headers and Y pipe are installed?

i put mine after the cat and noticed a diff.theres a spot about 2 foot or so infront of the axel that looks like it was designed for a cutout.

No, I dont think i can completely remove the cat after the header install sue to emissions and inspection. I was told by my muffler shop that the best place to install the cutout would be right around the rear seats, does that sound right? I didnt even think about losing it after the header install if i put the cutout before the cat, that does make sense. Thanks

I have a flowmaster 80 series muffler that's used normally. When I wanna make a few passes or just wake-up the other drivers around me I open up my DMH cutout that is mounted AFTER the cat. 2tenths and 2mph gain at the track!

A lot of people put it right before the upturn at the rear axle. Thats where I'm thinking of putting mine.
