Is it normal to hear a backfiring sort of noise when you deccel in a low gear with a cutout open. I keep forgetting to ask. My car doesnt seem to misfire and i am getting no codes. When cutout is closed i dont get the noise.

Very normal.... After all, you are bypassing the muffler and the mufflers job is to silence and filter out all of those nasty, unpleasant sounds ie: backfiring, sputters, pops, ect.

 

My 40 series even pops/backfires when I decel after a good run.
