custom true dual

im thinkin of goin true dual exhaust but i want the sound of the gmmg but not the price, what mufflers were the ones that were basically the same used on the gmmg? i think they were the sweet thunders? does anyone have a link, and does it really make a difference at all to go x pipe compared to ory? and how much do you guys think the shop would charge to make a custom exhaust(not including the price of the mufflers and x pipe)
thanks so much

Re: custom true dual

i cant bend the tubing though, is it really worth gettin an x pipe? and i got long tube headers right now so i think i have 3" inlets so ill stick with three instead of going down to 2.5". i still want a cat on it just in case but i dont want to have 2 cats cause its a waste of money and itll make it a lil bit heavier and suck up more hp wont it?
p.s. what sweet thunder material and length should i choose?

Re: custom true dual

If you want cat(s) and you want true duals then have to have 2 cats.

Re: custom true dual

unless you are planning on running a big h/c setup...dual 2.5" pipes is all you need.

that's more than enough to allow 450hp to breath.

3" will only hurt your clearance and make your wallet thinner.

what i ment with making your own was to use some of the "universal" kits. they come prebent and all you have to do is cut and adjust. i did my own true duals for my LS1 in my driveway...then $50 for a shop to weld them all up.

dual cats won't hurt much hp, just buy high flows. and it will tone down the sound a bit.

any size muffler from 18" to 24" would be fine, depending on personal sound level preferance.
and the sweet thunders are 2.5" internally anyway..so putting them on a 3" exhaust is kinda pointless anyway

Re: custom true dual

Well the gmmg aren't duals. All it is is a single exhaust like your stock cat back. The only difference is that after they are over the axle they branch in to 2 mufflers. So yes if you want to run a single exhaust then there is no problem running a Y-pipe and a single cat. But if you want duals there is no way to run a Y-pipe or a single cat.
