Custom programming a 93. Is chip soldered?

I kind of figured thats the case, but I would kind of like to figure out for sure before we get any of the chips or a socket to solder in.

Ben,

this is the guy you want to talk to, he does all the chips for us 92-93 LT1 owners and the LB9/L98 cars. The fact he knows about Alpha-N mode and what it is proves he knows his stuff. He goes by Rooster433 on the boards his email is Chips@pcmforless.com

Ben,

You suspicions are correct. The chip is soldered on to the Memcal just like on 3rd gens. They both actually use the same EPROM chip (27C256) just the code differs.

If you want to do your own chips I would just pick up one of Craig Moates adapters and a few flash chips (AT29C256's) and you'll be set.
