csi waterpump overheating!!!
csi waterpump overheating!!!
i drove my car today and it was running fine the whole day. I stopped and pulled a little burner and about 5 min. after that. it was overheating badly. I have a CSI electric water pump. I tried refilling the antifreeze, starting the car until the thermostat opened, and then tried bleeding the system, but i get nothing out of the bleeder valve. It is a brand new radiator and thermostat. any ideas?
Re: csi waterpump overheating!!!
fuse looks good b ut not sure how to check to see if the relay is bad. When the ignition is turned to "on" you can hear the pump making like a buzzing sound so i assume it is pumping but i still cannot get it to bleed.
Re: csi waterpump overheating!!!
Do anyone know if CSI Electric Pumps have set screws?
I heard some electric water pumps do. If there is a set screw, it may have come loose and free-spinning, thus no pressure in the system to bleed. Just a thought.

No set screw. You probably just need to finish bleeding it out. It takes mine a good while when I swap heads and such. Bleed it for a bit, drive it, and see if it overheats, if not, leave it alone, if so, bleed more

Re: csi waterpump overheating!!!
With the key (engine not running) on you should see some coolant flowing through the radiator with the cap off. This will tell you if the pump is working or not. You must do both bleeders and make sure you get all the air out. When you did the bleeders did fluid come out?
You did wire the CSI correctly? If the wiring was done backwards than this could be the cause of it.

Re: csi waterpump overheating!!!
I never had to bleed the system on mine like you would with the stock wp. I just turn the key ON so the pump will run and let the coolant circulate around that way. Once the radiator is full you shouldnt have to bleed anything really.. or I didnt anyway and have done it several times now.
