CSI or Meziere vs stock water pump

Hey guys my water pump is going to need replacing while the opti is changed. I was wondering if the electric units such as CSI or Meziere are better than stock. I know they free up some horses but do they last as long as stock or at least close to? I'd like some feedback from people who actually have these units on their cars or have tried them in the past. Just wondering because it'd be nice to get some extra HP out of this bad situation but I need durability too!
Thanks for the help.

I have a Meziere and it's rated to last 2000 hours. With the amount of driving I do, about two hours a day, it should last me close to three years. Cutting the fan shroud was the only down fall to the the pump, but other then that, it has worked great for 6 months .

Oh, another great aspect of the pump is that the drive hole in the back of the stock pump is pluged and wont leak over time. Also, on the Meziere pump if the electric motor dies, it's no big deal, you can simply undo the four or five bolts that fasten the impeller motor onto the stock pump housing and the whole unit comes off!!

Installed the Meziere water pump and have been pleased with it's performance ...... even installed a little green indicator light which comes on when the pump is running just as a safety measure.

The electrics have a constant gpm flow rating of 50-55 (depending on pump). Does anyone know the high rpm gpm flow capability of the oem pump?

there was a thread that was started a few days ago where lots of people say and said if they could do it all over again, they'd go with a stock one...too many problems with the electric ones...however texasspeed is running a GP on the CSI pump...

after reading what they said, i'm now getting a newer water stock pump

I don't know what it is, that is why I asked. However, electrics don't 'hold a candle' to the oem or ANY mechanical pump at high rpms, but thanks for replying just the same.

So you are saying the stock one would work better than a Meziere?

Yes, the CSI unbolts just like the Meziere. The CSI requires a minor modification to fit the stock housing, the Meziere does not, however you do not have the cut the fan shroud with the CSI. I have had the CSI on my car for about 6 months and 5000 miles. I am very happy with it and would go electric if I had to do it over again. My car seems to run slightly cooler. Your results may vary.

If you cannot get the meziere(sp) unit for a similar price as the CSI unit I don't know of any reason why one with go with the mez over the csi. The CSI unit is only like $125-$135. Been using a CSI pump for years without problems (not a daily driver though).

Meziere have wiring issues that some of them need to be soldered better. Wiring an indicator light is the chosen safety method.

The stock one - may do more at higher rpms, the electric will chug away all day long. W/O changing my thermostat, ever since I installed the unit in early August (peak heat time) my fans have yet to come on at 210. It just wont get that hot. The benefit of an electric is that on a track when you're in staging lanes you can simply sit with the pump going and the fans on, and if you've got a good battery you could even shut off your car and let it cool... Either way, I ran several passes (not on the strip, but on a huge parking lot, up through about 75mph) I think I didd 5 or 6 in a row and the car was far from overheating. Also I noticed a nice seat of the pants improvement. I got the meziere and wished I got the CSI. I would stay with electric, even though it makes it more crowded under the hood, less rotating mass is always a good thing!
