crumpling tin cans sound
Hi all, I've got this occaisional odd sound that we've been so far unable to figure out. The quick description is that sometimes on hard braking, theres a loud sound that sounds like taking a dozen tin cans of soda and crushing them.
It doesn't always happen. Sometimes I can go for weeks without the sound ever occuring. Then all of a sudden it starts doing it again usually for just a few days, then its gone for weeks again. It's very loud, usually getting "what the hell was that" kind of looks from people that hear it.
I've been living with the problem for about a year now as no one has yet been able to figure it out. The local Chevy dealership was stumped as well. Of course, the fact that it comes and goes makes it that much harder to solve
Anyone else ever have something similar? It's a '97 LT1 Camaro with about 60k miles on it. Some local shops have checked the brakes and cats, aside from that I don't know what else they've looked at. Any and all ideas appreciated!
