Cruise control

On the cruise control for the lt1, does the throttle cable from the gas pedal go to the cruise unit? And whats that black little box right behind the throttle body on the cable? What do the two wires do on it? I'd like to wire up a switch that will engage it to hold the throttle, then i'll just use the brake to release it.

I can send you a bunch of diagrams and such for the cruise. They are for a 93 though. I dont know if they changed much between the years.

On cars without ASR, the throttle cable goes from the pedal to the throttle body. The cruise has another cable that also attaches to the throttle body. The black "box" is just a cover to keep foreign material from jamming the throttle.

Can you please send me those, I'll see if they match up with what I got.

What's ASR? I think mine might've had it since I think the cruise cable hooks on to where the throttle cable goes on the throttle body.

ASR=Acceleration Slip Regulation, ie. traction control. If you have it, there would be a large contraption (ASR motor) sitting on the LH valve cover. The accelerator cable from the pedal and cruise would go to it, instead of to the throttle body, then a cable from the ASR motor would go to the throttle body.

oh, maybe what I'm thinking is a cruise control motor is the ASR, is the ASR a silver cylinder looking thing, a plug with two wires, and 3 pulleys for cables, one being plastic on the end?

Thanks for the diagrams, so does cavity A get B+ power momentarily to switch it on? I wonder if it would work if I had that always have B+, and just used one momentary switch for the SET button, then it'd release w/ the brake.
