Crate Motor

It is time to refresh/replace my worn out 94 LT1 engine. I am leaning towards buying a 383 stocker crate motor, rather than rebuilding the stock LT1. I would appreciate any recommendations on reputable vendors where I could purchase a 383 crate motor.
My goal is 400 RWHP with limited maintenance and additional mods. I currently have COI and Catback exhaust on an engine with 140,000 miles. I must be able to pass emissions tests, and do not want to work on or retune the motor every weekend.
This is a great sight, and I always appreciate your input.

Me too.....

I am also looking at what route to take -rebuild or crate.......I was actually looking for suggested places to find short block LT1......and re-build according to my budget and goals........

I also was interested in going STROKER.....but after doing a little research i found that just going to a 383 doesn't stop there..there was so many more mods i would have to do in order to fully gain the performance of the 383...for me it was just tooo much (fuel system componets- injectors, pump- computer re-write- transmission upgrade/replacement- oil system upgrades- exhaust system upgrades-ETC ETC. .... but is an awsome idea if you want and have the funds to go that route.

Amos, Check the advertisers for this page (link at the top). Some of them sell crates. You can also get them from GM and (I believe) from places like summit Racing and Jegs.
