Question Crank Pulley Squeeking, ok do wd-40??

Well After searching for a screach, squeeking I tracked it down under the car to around the pulley's. I figured that it was comoing from the crank pulley from my hearing, sprayed wd40 and walah! Squeek all gone, I let it run for a bout 5minutes with no more noise. It was cool to use wd40 right?

Well, It can't hurt anything other than breaking down the rubber in the belt. Your squeaking was prolly comming from an old drive belt anyway. If thats the case, replace it.

I had a new belt on mine and is was making a faint sqeaking noise and I sprayed mine and it has been fine ever since then. I did it about 3k miles ago.

No I should correct myself. I didn't spray the belt it is fairly new, less than a year. I sprayed the crank pulley itself the back part of it.

got a question...was it like a lil chirping sound?? I got one and it seems like its only when I'm stopped and the car is in gear. When I put it in neutral or park...nada.

On my 95 Honda Passport a belt was actually too loose, so it was slipping and causing a chirping sound as well. Tightened it up and it was all g.
