Crank Pulley

I got a crank pulley.. The belt says hypertech on the outside of it, but it may not be the original case, but it is as worn as the belt is.. Either way I got it… Are they easy to install? I heard some need longer bolts do they all since I assume this is the piggy back styled one. Any tips or hints on install? Or is it remove bolts, put new one on and old one over it..

For a 97, you will need a harmonic balancer pulley puller to rmove the ceank pulley.

You'd only need the puller if, like you say, "PB blaster and slide it off" doesn't work. Mine came right off without any particular trouble, it probably depends how much rust you've got on there.

Yes, you need three longer bolts, sounds like they didn't come with the pulley. Just get good grade 8 bolts from the hardware store, make sure they're not too long or you could drive one into your opti. Other than that, the install should be cake...

I tried the pulley puller but you need a specific size and I dont quite remember what it was but the Auto Zone one was too small or they didnt have the correct one in at the time. Hit the pulley with a hammer, it does the same job. This is probably the only time I'll say use a hammer. That hub aint coming off so it should be fine to give the balancer a good whack.
