Crank Position sensor question
Crank Position sensor question
I am doing an Lt1 swap from a 95 model to a 97 model after i spun a bearing.
I was needing to know if i need to hook anything up to the CPS if I use the 95 harness. The 95 does not have a Crank Position Sensor or the plug in the harness to use it. My main question is it vital and will the engine run properly without it plugged in. I have the engine in the car and am at a dead end until I find out what to do about the CPS

Re: Crank Position sensor question
I should clarify a little. If you have a California car, then a '95 will have OBD II, and therefore a CPS requirement in the PCM. But odds are you should be all set. Just leave it unplugged with the sensor in place so that you won't have to change the timing cover.

No 1995 LT1 f-bodies had OBDII. They are all OBDI, California emissions or no.

Next time I'll quit when I'm ahead.
