crank hub removal

I have been on shbox site all day, best site by far ( next to CZ28.com ) but this hub has me stumped.
I followed what his site says, I am using the 3 jaw puller and have turned it 8 or so times and it just wont budge. There is alot of resistance. Am I doing something wrong or do I keep going and it will give at some point?

You only use a 3 jaw puller to remove the pulley, not the hub. If you keep going like you are, something is probably going to break. What are you actually needing to do?

well, you need a hub puller, uses 3 bolts to attach to the hub, has a screw in the middle

then, you need to get a logn bolt/rod to fit through the center hole, so you are pushing on the crank, not the threads or the hub

look at this pic for what the hub looks like

Edit, heres the pic, from shoeboxes site

Well there isnt a shop in town with this tool. I am going to have to drive nearly an hour to get one.
Before I go I would like to know if any crank hub removal tool will work? Are they universal?

Any SBC damper removal tool will work, but you might have to open the slots a little for the larger bolts used to secure the pulley on the LT1 hub. Follow the directions that Dave89IROC gave.

Yeah I have the right tool now, but ran into the problem you just noted!
The bolts are too big for the slots

An alternative that some have used is to use longer and thinner bolts that pass through the threaded holes in the hub. Put a nut and washer on the back side and make sure they are all turned out to the same length.

Still cant get it off. We did what you are saying bout the smaller bolt and nut. That thing is stuck on there. Sprayed it with some PB blaster, going to let it sit over night.
This thing is a PITA

you can try heating it if your going to take the timing cover off and replace the gaskets/seals on the timing cover. Try some good penetrating oil too.

(not at the same time)

Make sure the center crew on the puller is pushing against the crank and not the hub. I inserted a long bolt (longer than the hub bolt) into the crank and threaded it all the way down to push against.
