Crane RR's

Are the Crane 1.6 Gold roller rockers worth the $340 or should i get a cheaper set. the engine is mostly stock. Am i gonna have to change my springs too? What do you guys recommend?

Crane's are worth it as they are a high quality product and I've had them on my motor for 10 years and love'em. BTW - Your stock springs will be fine, just make sure you get the Non S/A version or you will need guide plates as well.

He needs SA if he doesn't want guide plates.

I wouldn't run the stock springs, for $40 you can pick up a used set of LT4 Springs.

You need to change the springs.

The CC Pro Mags are great, too and I believe they are cheaper.

Not true, the Crane Gold's will work on the stock springs, but it is always a good idea to go with something that will take a little more lift and has a heavier seat pressure. If you do this then get some harder pushrods as well.

Well Im going through all this i suppose i'll just put the springs on too....lol it'll be fun
Where can i pick up some LT4 springs?
I'm gonna get the Crane Golds, then it'll be done right
I'm going with LS7 lifters, would i be able to see with my eyes if the pushrods are too short. If so i could just wait and order the pushrods if needed
And should I replace the valve seals
I'm sorry for all the questions but i only wanna do this once THANKS

If you use the 7/16" studs you'll also need guide plates and hardened pushrods. Crane's 7/16" rockers only come in non self-aligning.

You need to change the springs, and you don't need "harder" pushrods for SA rockers.

Comp Cams Pro Magnum

Don't know if you are interested. But, here is a pretty good deal on a set of Comp Cams Pro Magnum rockers. They are from a supporting vendor, and will save you $55 over the Crane Golds.

I went from Crane gold SA rockers to Comp ProMags. ProMags have larger trunion bearings. You can use the Isky PR guide plates since these are easy to adjust for valve tappet alignment. I used a 7.30" long hardened trick flow push-rod since I run a CamMotion Cam. I also went with the 7/16" studs. You probably will have to mod your stock valve covers a bit for lock clearance (I used ProForm covers - about 1/4+ more space). I think the Comps are better designed for higher rpm valve control. I got all this stuff from Summit. App... 97ss M6 383-D1 Moser 12. B.

Do a search on here and you will find the Pro Mag's more popular I believe. It could be because they are cheaper, though.
