Crane 227: more info please.

I know with the exception of some better springs that this cam was primarily designed to run on stock specifications, and people have seen some surprisingly great results.

But how does it respond to say 1.6 ratio rockers, stock ported heads and other valvetrain upgrades.

I know alot of you guys will say at that point to go big or go home, but I'm just curious. I have a long way to go before I'd even consider a cam, but I need a good read.

Thanks for your inputs.

Chris

that cam will take anything u throw at it
you will need
new pushrods
new springs
probably new roller rockers
look into new lifters, idk u might be able to use stock lifters at 55k
head porting will be nice
computer tune
im sure ive left out some stuff.
cam swaps arent cheap, lookin at 1000 or so for a cam swap done correctly

Well I just got mine installed Sunday and loving it thus far. It isnt tuned yet, but feels like a 50 HP shot of N20 how it is.
I had the heads ported, the guy who did them calls it an econo port. I did the 1.6 RR as well.
It all seems to work well together for me. Cam even has a good lope to it for being a baby cam.
