cracked exhaust manifold

I just took the heat shields off of my manifolds today so that I could paint them. They are only going to be on my car for about another month or two. They have a pretty good size crack in them. Its not that ist wide, it just travels most of the way around. What can I use to temporarily patch this up. I was thinking of putting something on it and then heat taping them. I think JB weld will sucomb to those temps, so what else will work?
I am also blocking off the AIR fittings, what can I use?

The only solution is a new manifold.Dont waste any time or money on it.A good excuse to install headers.

I guess you didn't pick up on the sig/statement above that says it will be temporary... I don't care how long it lasts, but hopefully it will last for a month or so of lite driving. I'm just not gonna be Camaro-less for a month. Any ideas?

You want to paint your heat shields? Better find paint that can handle over 1000 degrees.

Bad idea if you ask me.

actually painting the manifolds. I have 1200 degree engine enamel. Walmart sells it. Its only for a month and I don't want it to look sh*tty for a month. Its called Dupli-Color Engine enamel. It worked great on my y-pipe....

Its bad enough that I won't put it back on my car like that... Well, without atleast attempting to temporarily fix it....

If you know a good welder, have him tack the manifold with some Ni-rod. It is an alloy that will fuse cast iron. Of course that will cost money. And no engine enamel will stand up.
Like others have said, just leave it alone, or spend the money.

$29.50 here

DON'T use tape or you're next post will be about the fire under the hood.

that hilarious. I was thinking that. But I know that they make tape that can withstand that temp. Header wrap would probably work. I just don't know what its called at a parts store.

I'll give them to you if you never make me go through that damn AC problem again in such detail. I need a drink now.
Brent- I'll buy yours for $30 if you buy mine for $29.50. That way we both get rid of our manifolds.

Shipping on these would be more than a cheap temporary fix. Go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy some stuff called furnace cement. It will patch it right up. Last time I bought it (years ago) to "fix" a leak on a friends old car it was like $8. With some aluminum foil and furnace cement you could make your own manifolds.
