Could it be opti

Drvg back from Ft Lauderdale on tpke, cruise at 75mph. Car starts to miss bad. I had a code light earlier that went off after I shut down for a pit stop and than this. I shut down the a/c right after it happened and than it ran fine?? 94 degress outside what F'n fun that was for 80 miles. I'm not sure if it was coincidence or not . Car is being diagnosed for codes now . I will get it back tomm. ? Also ran over a large sharp metal peice of junk 5 miles from home and totaled the tire, F'n Bad luck day, No jack or spare. towed to nearest facility & figured I'd have them diagnose it $77. I hope its $ well spent.>>

Red face possible Opti

Im starting to not like these Optis lol...

You need alittle more info than it just starts to misfire. Mine started misfiring between 1500-3000 rpms whenever id accelerate more than half throttle. It would literally feel like the car was having a seizure lol. But I just installed a new Opti in my 94z over a month ago and its fine now. I dont think they can find that out from a dianostic check. Check to see if all your plugs are arching. Just pull some random plugs out (one at a time) and preferrably at night where its dark, hold it against the block or something metal and check for a spark. Even though if you see arc, it may still be the Opti. Mine sparked even though it was my Opti..but after the install, it started right up. I would investigate the problem more, what rpms does it act up, were you just using cruise control when it acted up? etc.
I would bet if it doesnt happen consistently, its not the opti. Mine would act up after warming up, every time in the same rpm range, same speeds (specially at WOP in second/third). Good luck, Derek

Well get this. I picked up the car from the shop & they were unable to scan it because of a problem with the machine? I needed to take the car so I said I would bring it back during the week. I drove out and noticed that the cloock was off by a few hrs and all the radio presets were gone. I'm now thinking damn they probably erased the memory in the pcm for codes that were stored.. So I drive for about 2 miles and hit the hwy than boom . A big sputer/backfire and the engine cuts out I can't restart it. It sounds like it wants to kick over for a second and nothing. I now have it in the garage. I get no spark to the plugs ? Opti????

Start by checking for spark....pull wire off the Coil and hold up to the block if no spark...then it could be a coil...happened to my 94..then two weeks later the ICM went bad!
