Cost for Lloyd Elliot LE2 package and supp. mods

I have a stock engine except for the LPE CAI and cat back. Can I do the LE2 setup on my car with the supporting mods for around $4000?? I could add it all up, but wanted to see some real world prices that some of you have experienced with doing this or a similar setup. Thanks for any info..

Should be able to get everything to get it running with $4k. Thats just figuring the items needed to complete the le2 package and the parts needed to actually support the le2 stuff. When all that new horsepower catches up with the stock drivetrain, things get expensive.

Re: Cost for Lloyd Elliot LE2 package and supp. mods

from completely stock you'll need:
heads to send in, whether it be your own or a set you buy
LE2 heads cost
LE2 cam cost
1.6:1 roller rockers
head studs (3/8 or 7/16, depending on which rocker you use)
guideplates (if you use non self aligning rockers)
pushrods
lifters (DONT USE COMP Rs, I repeat DO NOT USE COMP Rs)
36-42lb/hr injectors
LT headers, ORY, and catback
LT4 extreme duty timing chain if using stock waterpump
cloyes double roller and meziere electric waterpump
intake manifold gaskets, header gaskets, timing cover gasket
good cold air intake
rear gears, I used 3.73s in my auto and they worked good
~3500 stall converter
GOOD transmission cooler
mail order PCM tune, or, better yet, a dyno tune

I don't feel like looking for all the prices on all that. Don't forget to add in shipping costs and miscellaneous costs for things you will inevitably break during the whole thing.

no. I tore apart my engine and found two retainer clips lying in the lifter valley. theres other missing...
I even used the PROPER preload. I set and checked it many times. they still failed.

The heads and cam package is 1600 or 1700 alone. Then the rest of the valvetrain, drivetrain, rearend, suspension. 4k is way short. There is also labor unless you do all of your own work. I would get all of you boltons done and then go for h+c.

Stock Lifters will be fine. I reused mine on my 396.

dont forget to set aside extra grand - because it never fails when doing a build you'll run into extra costs..

Thanks for all the replies and info. I'll just buy what boltons I need with the money I have and then do H/C job.

Re: Cost for Lloyd Elliot LE2 package and supp. mods

Supporting mods should be on before doing heads/cam.
You've got the cold air intake and 3" catback.
Headers would be nice, and could be installed at the same time as the heads since you have to unbold the manifolds anyhow.

Gears (not required, but a big nice to have)
Your M6 won't need a torque converter

$1750 LE2 Package (Heads $1400 + Cam $350) - Remember that the cam doesn't have to be LE2 it can be "bigger" or "smaller" or custom for N20 or forced induction, same price.
LE2 heads have springs, retainers and valves in them already.
That saves you some cash and install time

(my) shopping list and cost estimates:

$ 35 ARP 7/16" studs
$270 Comp Pro Mag 1 6:1 NSA rocker (these cams are a little too agressive for SA rockers IMHO)
$ 93 Comp mag 1-peice pushrods (7 150")
$200 Comp 850-16 lifters
$ 25 Guideplates

$ 39 026" head gaskets
$ 20 Intake manifold gasket set
$175 30# SVO injectors (Going to 36 or 42 wouldn't hurt any)

$ 50 Arp head bolt kit
$ 15 Timing cover gasket
$ 5 Water pump gaskets
$ 17 Valve cover gaskets
$ 20 Exhaust/header gaskets (Seriously consider $40 Percy's gaskets and $40 stage 8 locking bolts)

$1500 Installation (17hrs @ $83 shop rate + shop fees and taxes)
Cheaper if you can do it, or have someone do it for you. (MAKE SURE they know what they are doing)
$ 150-350 Good custom tuning (on a dyno or using a laptop to do diagnostics)

Optional Items

$ 13 58mm TB gasket (if you have a 58mm TB)
$200 Ported manifold (ePortworks, matched to Le2 heads)

It would be a good idea to have an additional $500-1000 available (cash or credit).
Something might go wrong and require a quick part purchase or additional labor.

I've got a '93 with 35k on it, I didn't think it would be an issue.

I'm not sure what aftermarket options are available to me.
If you have a suggestion, I have about 48 hours before I'll need
the chain for installation

Re: Cost for Lloyd Elliot LE2 package and supp. mods

Well I paid $1875 TOTAL for the LE3 heads only. I didn't have a core and I had the intake ported also. I purchased the cam and springs from Bret Bauer that was an extra $500.00 or so.
