correct pushrod length for Comp R lifters?
correct pushrod length for Comp R lifters?
My friend is putting together some parts for a heads and cam swap on his 94 T/A, and is not sure if he needs longer pushrods to fit the Comp "R" lifters since they evidently sit lower than stock lifters. Has anyone needed to run .100" longer pushrods with these lifters? He already has a set of hardened pushrods right now but is not sure if he needs to send those back for longer ones. He'll be running a custom ground Comp cam (224int 230exh with .605" lift intake, .575" exhaust with 1.6 rr's). thanks

Re: correct pushrod length for Comp R lifters?
There is only one method to tell if pushrods are the correct length. With the engine assembled, install a lifter and rocker and watch the travel of roller across the end of the valve. Use this comp cams page as a guide. http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Cu...ML/306-307.asp
After checking the originals, a measuring type push rod could then be used to zero in on the correct length, assuming the original length was incorrect. In many cases the original are still correct but they still should be checked.
