Correct gap?

I am going to put in a set of 104 autolite plugs...not 103s because I have no power adder...but I do have all the bolt ons you can get without cracking the engine open...so I figured the 104s will work...yes or no?...so my question is what would you gap the 104s at...from my searching I saw someone say they gap them at .035 is that a little small or will that work...thanks

Well, anything between .035 and .050 should work fine...

My Hayne's says .050
My Chilton's says .035

The general consensus around here is .050 for na cars. Since the LT1 ignition is on the weak side you may want to gap a little less.

Too large of a gap will make the spark weak and will result in poor combustion and poor performance- get yourself an ignition amplifier or LS1 style and that problem is solved...

Too small of a gap and the spark is powerful, but it's not very spread out, so improper combustion could result from that as well.

.035 is a little on the small side, but it should work regardless.

Look on the sticker on your radiator cover. It says spark plug gap is .050.

No the stock gap will be fine. High compression levels are what usually neccessitate adjusting the gap smaller than stock (for reliable spark).
