I have been driving the car some more and I think I might have found the problem. Today when I started it cold, as soon as I took off, the temo gauge shot up to the top, then cooled down real fast a few minutes later. It does this just about everytime I start it, and once in a while when I'm just driving down the road. And if it does it when I start the car, it goes for over a minute before it cools down, which doesn;t make sense because it seems like the incoming air would have cooled it down long before. So the only thing I can thing of is that the head temo sensor is wrong. The engine is from a 95, and came with that sensor, but my car is a 94. The sensors aren't different are they?

Also, as I got to thinking, I don't remember it overheating before the engine swap, so this seems like the only possible thing. What do you think shoebox, besides that I have now wasted about 3 hours of your time

Well, I did suggest before that your gauge may be whacko. It would be worth a shot to check out the wiring/connector and maybe replace the sensor.

That is exactly what my gauge was doing when I had the stock temp. sensor in when it was crapping out. Then I replaced it with the one from Autozone which I posted about earlier.

I haven't replaced the sensor yet, but I don't think that is the problem. Today, I decided to take out the t-stat, and put it in a pan, and it didn't oped until the water was boiling, and the thermometer said about 212. This is wrong isn't it? I thought the stock t-stat was supposed to open at around 180. I then went and traded it in, and the new one was the same way. Is this my problem shoebox????
