Question Coolant Temp?s

Ok, Ive been driving my car daily for the past two-three weeks and as the outside temps went from 65 degrees a few weeks ago to 90 degrees this past week, I notice that my temps on the dash went from right under to right past the middle line to the third line right under the RED ZONE, so today pulled out the old thermostat that was a 160 degree and put in a new Hypertech 160 degree one in, I didn't do a complete drain on the motor, just the radiator, filled back to level with strait coolant and bleed the system of air, now its running back to how it was a few weeks ago. Now, i am thinking that the thermostat was going out and from what I could tell more water in the system then antifreeze, it still has the coolant running to oil filter adapter and as the motor gets hot i see that my oil pressure drops, found out that the pressure switch is bad just haven't changed it yet, just wondering that with the limited space that the motor has and with the headers I have which are not ceramic coated, could the heat from the headers combined with the thin 10W-30 motor oil, might also contribute to my car running high temps not hot but just high considering I have a 160 degree thermostat. Also when running the car in stop and go traffic it stays cooler than on the highway running at a constant speed and rpm, water pump runs fine. Just wondering if this is somewhat normal considering Ive been told that the LT1s like to overheat compared to the LS1s.

Running hotter on the highway than in stop and go traffic is opposite normal behavior. Are you sure there are no obstructions to the front of the radiator and the air dam is on?

A 160° thermostat opens sooner, but won't do anything to limit the upper temperatures.

No air dam, junk yard trip should take care of that, I thought something looked different compared to my step-dads 93 Camaro, thanks.

Yep, the air dam will make all the difference.

I just cant believe I didn't notice it missing after growing up with a 93 Camaro, dont know how many time we replaced that air dam on his for hitting speed bumps and parking blocks, your signature says it all.
