Coolant light please help!!
Coolant light please help!!
OK the other day my low coolant light came on. I immediatly checked the coolant level and it was fine. The light would turn off when I shut the car off and would only come back on when the car really began to warm up (like sitting in traffic) nothing that was above the usuall temps according to the temp gauge. I went to have the oil changed and told them to check it. They reccomended having the system drained and flushed. The cooland looked pretty bad when it came out so I was pretty happy to have it done. After all was done on the way home the light came back on. Now I know the level is full. What gives??? Anyone else ever had this happed? Please help I have a big drive comming up in a few days and I dont want to do any damage.
Thanks,
Ed

I've kinda been having the same problem. I noticed my low coolant light was on so I checked it and it was pretty low. Filled it up and let the car run for a little bit and the light is still on. Disconnected the battery for a little bit thinking it would clear the sensor but the light is still on. Engine is running cool and isn't overheating at all, so I dunno what the problem is. If you find out, let me know too.
Hey Xstoyz..... forget all that nonsense and don't sweat it. Just unplug the thing. It's the sensor.....they go all the time. All it is is a low coolant sensor. If you got coolant no biggie. All the Og's here will tell ya the same thing.
Coolent sensor generally goes out if you don't flush and fill your coolent as per the owner's manual. 65000miles/4 years I think.
The leak stopper solution in the coolent will begin to gunk up the system if the maintainance isn't done. Also you may gunk up your heater core. It's happened to quite a few people....me included. Spend the 60 bucks and get it flushed and filled.
Replacing the sensor of course is a bit more expensive.

my sensor came on a lil while back and i checked my level on that goofy lookin flat plastic dipstick thing and i think its like empty....the lights come on randomly tho...maybe 3 times in the past 3 months....is there a write up on draining the system and doin a refil or anything? what kidna cash am i lookin at spending buying the stuff to do it with? also...would it be wise to just go somewhere and have it done?
