Coolant Crossover Tube

This is one of my first posts here but I have gotten some great info off this site.. For starters I did an LT1 Conversion on a 1980 Volvo. Total sleeper..

Those are old pictures. I just need to figure out the cooling system and throttle cable.

So my problem is i forgot to install the Crossover vent tube on the rear of the engine. I have also lost the tube. So either I go to gm and get a new one or I use AN fittings or build a homebrew setup from elliots.

I want to block off the tb coolant inlets and I am using an aluminum resivor for the coolant. What would you do?

I would suggest that you go to gm and get a new one. If i am not mistaken, without it, you won't get proper flow of coolant thru the heads. And you can bypass the TB very easily with a little tube adapter a couple hose clamps. in fact i would recommend bypassing the TB anyway to reduce intake air temps.
Dunno if this helps or not.

I agree, replace the cross over tube, it's not something you want missing. I'd order one from Dal (877-448-5451) to get a good price.

blahster, the Navy did the same thing to me many years ago I went ahead and bought my (now gone) 92 RS brand new because the detailer said no problem going to Canada. Of course - I got orders to Okinawa I had fun there though. My dad kept my car safe the 2 years I was out of the country.

Re: Coolant Crossover Tube

Ok I got the GM crossover tube but now I dont know where to vent it too. My overflow tank has two npt holes. One is for the coolant overflow from the radiator, what if I use the other for the crossover vent?

Thanks for the replies.

It should be routed back to the radiator.

Re: Coolant Crossover Tube

I am using steel flex hose for the radiator and the radiator doesnt have any more inlets. I do not have any of the heater hoses hooked up. Can I just plug it into one of the outlets on the water pump?

Re: Coolant Crossover Tube

Thanks man. Has anyone tried tapping a plastic end tank on a radiator. I might just get an elliots fitting for 3/8 hose and tap and epoxy it in. Thanks for all the replies guys.
