Coolant
Coolant
Ok guys i flushed my heater core or coolant a couple weeks ago to get my heat back. My car has been running a lil past 180 when i idle is that bad or normal? But it gets to like 200 but then goes back down im guessing that the thermastat opening. BUt the low coolant light goes on. I checked it and im deffinitly not low on coolant any suggestions to what this couold be? ANd A fix?
Your temperature behavior is normal. Low speed fans come on at 215, which would explain the drop in temperature.
And it's your low coolant sensor. It's a common problem on our cars. A replacement is relatively cheap.

I can't tell you for sure but i think 180 is about normal. If you put a new thermostat in, most of them are 190 degree thermostats. I had the problems before that my low coolant light would keep going on and it turned out to be there was an air leak in the radiator cap. Maybe check your radiator cap for a good seal or any crap in it.
Your best bet is through a dealer.

You can try to clean the low coolant sensor, replace it or you can unplug it with no other ill effects. You just won't be able to monitor the level any more with the light.
