Unhappy coolant ?

Each time I drive my car. I have to put in a little bit of water like maybe one glass or two in the radiator. When the car is moving the temp stays at 180 mark and when I stop it sometimes goes to 210 or over. Do I have just a leak or do I have a blown head gasket? Should I go and get a coolnat pressure tester at autozone? maybe water pump.(its never been done I have 81k) Thanks

If you leave it parked and running, can you see anyplace (either on the ground or around the engine) where it might be leaking? If you can't see any place that it is leaking, it is probably a head gasket. I would know b/c both of mine went out about a 1 1/2 years ago. Another good idea would be to get a compression check done, that will definitely tell you. Oh, and when i was trying to find my "leak", I could take my radiator cap off (when i first started the car) and i could see air bubbles all at the top of the water/anti-freeze leve. Hope this helps!

whatever you do, and if it is a head gasket, get it fixed asap before it destroys your motor

I had a similar problem with my T/A and it turned out to be a leaking expansion tank. It was leaking where the metal pipe went into the top of the tank (under the battery). I went to my local junkyard and got one out of a '97 V6 for $10 and it hasn't happened again. Even with it leaking I could never see any coolant. I guess it was pooling in the inner bumper area and coming out when I drove. I know it's a long shot but you might want to check it out.
