Cool, keeping her cool, sugestions.

Well I have a 160 thermostat,
but she still soars up to the red without me moving...

I will be doing some cooling work like replacing water pump (probably go with electric) replacing all the hoses, replace heater core and hook it up

but how will i know at that point whether or not she is gonna stay below 190?

I've been on the side of the road overheated more times then i can count and I only drove the car for 14 months... and put about 20k miles on her.

so any suggestions would be enjoyed

did you bleed the system?

( looks into crystal ball) (I see a good coolant flush in your near future)

Make sure the level is good and air is bled - check these daily until it is flushed when you have time (hopefully over the weekend at the latest). I'm needing to flush mine as well > : - >

well i dont accually drive the car any more... just once a week i take her around the block...

im pretty sure she leaks some where but i cant find out where... perhaps it burns off...

I've flushed her lots of times...the stat is the hypertech 160 for reverse cooling

ever since i put the stat in while im moving the car is cooler...

does anyone know if the heater core isnt hooked up if it runs hot?

and possibly the guy before me might have routed everything wrong?

fans?

The 160* thermo. only helps when you are moving unless you have the fans set to come on earlier. Or you can install a manual fan switch.
In any case the fans should still come on, around 220*, before it over heats (gets to the redline).
So I would be checking the fans for proper operation.

Uh ya you need to bleed it because the air in the system create pockets and hotspots on the cylinder wall
