Convince me to upgrade my valve springs
In my 1995 LT1 I have been running the comp cams cc305 cam. Its intake and exhaust lifts are .510 / .510. I also have these combined with 1.7 rocker arms.
For springs right now I have the LT4 spring kit. It is rated to .525 lift. Right now I am running more lift the what the spring is rated at. I have been running this combo for over 5000 miles. It runs pretty good. My car has heads and cam, and at the track its 1/4 MPH is only like 106 or 107.
-Could better springs get me more HP and better 1/4 MPH?
Let me know
Thanks,

Why should we convince you to change valve springs??? Your running .578 lift on springs that are only good to .525. I'm surprised you haven't bent pushrods and trashed your roller lifters or cam.
Will the right valve springs get you more power? I doubt it.
Will the right valve springs eventually same the top end of your engine? YES!

Re: Convince me to upgrade my valve springs
If your springs are not correct, you will probably suffer on top end due to float---and you might also be jeopardizing your entire engine integrity. I'd get some good double springs and have some piece of mind.JMHO
Re: Convince me to upgrade my valve springs
Car runs good and fine the way it is. Just took valve covers off to fix a leak. Everthing looks ok.
I am a little dissapointed by my 1/4 MPH. If new springs will help me pick up some power I will change them.

Re: Convince me to upgrade my valve springs
Don't worry. you'll got plenty of time to pick up power when you rebuild the engine after it drops a valve. Just because you haven't had a problem yet, dosn't mean you won't. And when you do, your gonna drop a valve and possibly trash the motor.
If we tell you you'll pick up power, will you change the springs?

Re: Convince me to upgrade my valve springs
I have Crane Cams 10308 springs on my cc468 and runs fine but I can't find specs on those double springs anywhere, not sure what lift limit is, sure it's at .600/.600 and my cam is .584/.579 w/ stock rockers, im running 1.6rr.
Re: Convince me to upgrade my valve springs
If you change the springs, it'll be a 10 sec car....guaranteed. Feel better now?
You've already done the math and know what needs to happen...don't be a dumb*ss. Most of us work very hard to build these cars up and keep 'em running well....you won't find a lot of sympathy or support for running yours in a combination that you know d*** well is just a time bomb.

Re: Convince me to upgrade my valve springs
Can I buy your block once you blow it up? I need a nice conditioned block to finally start this forged low-comp 383 project. Then I just need a few more thousand for a nice ATI, or turbo, etc.
I will give you $250 for the block.
