converting from 94 instrument cluster to 97 cluster

Hey guys, Do I have to replace the whole dash board to do this, or is there an easier way. My next question is, if I have to replace the whole dash, does the 97 bolt right up? Seems like it should. Has anyone done this? Thanks for the input.

i would think you have to replace the whole thing and that sounds like a pita. i think the 93-96 looks better anyway

I agree, but I'm all for the whole digital mileage and stuff, I just think it looks newer. It doesn't really seem feasible, but I may try if the situation arises.

I was under the impression that you couldn't do it, due to the LCD.

well thats kinda the whole point of me wanting to do the conversion, does that LCD run off the computer or indepedently, seems like it would have to be independent, but that just my thoughts on the subject.

on my 97, the cluster has an ieee computer adaptor in the back. it just plugs right in, and the entire assembly pops off. when all said and done, its a 1" thick computer with analogguages and a lcd info screen. as for the older ones, im clueless as to what or how they hook up. if you have questions im me or email me

I have seen a 93 dash torn apart and the gauge plugs in on the side where my 97 plugs in with a different type of plug in the back of the gauges

I think you would have to change the dash to go from a early model camaro to a 97 b/c the dash design changed didnt it
