converter or not?

When I get my headers on and my exhaust redone, should I leave the cat. converters off or not? In the county that I live in TN we do not have inspections, and my se light is on and the code is for the front left converter. I can get the part thru gm at a little above cost but that is still about $425.00. If I leave the converters off and reset the computer will the se light come on because there are no converters?

Re: converter or not?

Ditch the converters. For the computer you can get O2 sims so that the PCM thinks the car still has one. I think a mail order tune can do that for you as well.
