converter lock up switch

Anyone have the link to the torque converter manual lock/unlock switch.

I want to try keeping my converter unlocked to see if my torque converter is causing my low rpm stumble/surge.

I have tried many other things and have ruled out others and think it may be my converter.

Thanks

Applying the brakes when converter is locked should unlock it. If you just want to test, let it lock up, keep you foot on the accelerator to hold speed or accelerate slowly while simultaneously left-foot brake just a lttle. You'll see the tach jump a few hundred rpm as the TC unlocks.

How low an rpm is it locking up? Somewhere around 35-40 mph in 4th? It should also lock up in D (3rd gear) at those speeds.

FWIW, to tell if it's locked, "crowd" the accelerator (give it a little gas). If it's locked rpm won't jump, but will increase slightly with speed. If it jumps, it's not locked. As you crowd it more and more it will finally unlock. My C5 really lets you crowd it and even pass fairly quickly without unlocking. I like that.

Sometimes the trans might go in and out of lockup. My 80,000 mile truck does that in 4th just about at the min lockup point. It feels like a surge, but you can see it lock and unlock on the tach. 10 mph faster in 4th or same mph in 3rd doesn't do it.
