Computer tuning for long tubes???
I hear that when one does long tubes on a LT1 that it requires tuning on some vehicles. Does anyone here know anything about this or have experiences where they put LT's on a car and had to get tuning?
I just put long tubes on my car and am having madwolf tune for me. I had to get it done because I removed my emissions, I don't know if it absolutely has to be done though. It couldn't hurt anything to do it anyway.
Since you have an OBDI conversion and a custom tune, I wouldn't worry about it. But on a stock tune and especially OBDII car (96-97) I'd say tuning is a must. First, you need the rear o2 sensors disabled if you don't have sims (and it's an offroad y-pipe), then there's several tweaks than can net as much as a 23+ RWHP gain over stock tuning.
As already mentioned, most need their EGR and AIR disabled as well, which will otherwise set an SES code.

I had pcmforless do my obdI conversion and send me the program for my cam when it was installed. When we put the long tubes and duals on this time I blocked of the EGR plate on the back of the intake. I wonder if I should get it retuned because of that and if thats what could be causing my little problem.
Sometimes when Im driving its like my car hits a bad spot and wants to stutter a bit then it clears right up and takes off again. It never did this until I swapped the shorties with long tubes, ran duals, and blocked off the egr crap. Any suggestions? I have checked to see if there were burnt plug wires but there were none!
