Compression ratio

I just bought a new 383, what do you estimate my comp ratio is at?

THE BLOCK WAS BORED .040 OVER AND CLEARENCE FOR A STROKER CRANK,

KB PISTONS REVERSE DOME .030 OVERBORE PISTONS

LT4 HIGH PERFORMANCE ALUMINUM HEAD CHAMBER 2.00" INTAKE/ 1.55 EXHAUST, 54.4 CC COMBUSTION CHAMBER

LT4 MANIFOLD

GM PERFORMANCE LT4 HOT CAM KIT

EAGLE STAGE TWO LONGER RODS - SEALED POWER HIGH PERFORMANCE RINGS.

FULLY FORGED STROKER CRANKSHAFT

could you estimate the comp ratio for me please ,the pistons are the hyperectics, but does this sound like it would be a safe platform to super charge in the near future. the guy told me it was designed to be super charged. thank you for your helps

Re: Compression ratio

so 4.040 bore, 4.030 pistons, Are they dished, flat, or domed? What head gasket you gonna run? I assume 3.75" crank. Give me this info and i can calculate it for ya....

Re: Compression ratio

i need to know the cc of the dished piston, like negative 24cc or w/e they are. As for the gasket i need to know the thickness IE: .029 *impala gasket i belive* need to know those specifics...

Re: Compression ratio

i dont really know for sure, here is the exact pic of them?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

head gasket should be the standard whatever that may be.

Re: Compression ratio

Should call him and ask him the specifics on it, perhaps he has the correct CR also. But if u get me the piston cc, and the head gasket thickness i can calculate it for ya.....they are prob -16cc or -24 or something...

which is it? Bored .030 or .040? He states two different bore sizes. Does Keith Black make forged slugs?
Not to scare you but reading the description I am not so sure, even he knows what he has. "Eagle stage 2 longer rods" or "high performance lifters and pushrods", what exactly does that mean and more important just what are the parts!! Get all the info before you drop the cash cause thats a good chunk of change you just spent.
There are a few "standard" gasket sizes to pick from for a LT1. The cam choice isn't exactly the greatest for a SC engine. You'd be better off with a custom grind to maximize your power gains.

Re: Compression ratio

looks like they got a little crazy with that rattle can. they painted the deck and the crank journals id try to back out of that deal if i were you. seems fishy. thats about how much im vested in my motor and i know everything thats done to it and that its all done right. i hope it works out for you, and you dont get screwed because ive been there

Re: Compression ratio

ok found the pistons they were listed on the engine build sheet from the shop, its the kb-121 pistons heres the link im still looking for the rods and the valve train thanks for your valuable help. http://kb-silvolite.com/performance....etails&P_id=91

the head gaskets that were used, are from the lt4 conversion kit so the gasket thickness is, .043

Re: Compression ratio

i did the comp ratio figure thing and it gave me 09.639 comp ratio,

when i did that at the bottom it had a box that said note,
NOTES
(HYPER) Pump gas compression possible with proper cylinder head and cam selection.
Check stock rod balance pad-to-piston clearance, underside of piston. Compression suitable for supercharging and turbocharging.

Re: Compression ratio

I am also not a fan of what I am seeing with this engine. It is not worth $4,250 in my opinion. Not to burst your bubble or anything but you could make better power at a better price else where. Actually I got a quote from Nick@Victory for a 383 with the discount it came to about $2800 for the shortblock, send out the stock LT1 heads you have and get the LE2-LE3 and you would have about the same amount of money and alot better setup. And for the other question, i wouldn't want to put a supercharger on that engine without a good set of forged pistons. I also don't like the fact that this guy doesn't seem to know what he has( a 40 over block, and 30 over pistons). Also looks like he assembled it himself, most people don't have the ability to get bearing clearances, etc when putting together a high performance engine. THe rear cam bearing looks like it got painted as well, ehh!!
