Complete n00b..What Do I all need w/ cam?
I'm putting a XE 230/236 112LSA cam in, and the car has high miles, so What do I all need to replace with the cam? The car has 123K miles, I'm on a kind of tight budget, but yet I wanna replace Parts, If its going to help prevent risk of possible future breakage!
So far I have::
The Cam
Hardened Pushrods
Ive gathered that I need:
1.6RR's (more lift )
Springs (what kind would suffice?)
and ?????
Do I really need to replace anything else? Lifters, anything?
Another question, how High should I set the Rev limiter too?
My end goal is to run Low 12's....with this setup..(stock heads)
thanks in advance!!

Combination Motorports is running a kick *** valvetrain package deal in the GP section. You might want to check it out. But if your lookin for what needs done other than what you listed...With your mileage I would do new lifters,new timing chain(possibly an LT4 Extreme Duty),look into gettin a new opti(it's off anyway), gaskets for everything being changed,PCM Tuning(there are a few sponsors of this site that do this I went with PCMForLess and was VERY happy with the tune and Bryan's service was great)and new springs(if you don't already have them). I'm sure I missed something so someone else will hopefully chime in.

Combo is the best deal, but make sure u talk to comp or someone for the right springs!! Combo gives springs that are close to the cam, i needed the double springs. It wasnt there fault and they have excelent cs, but i did end up with bent valves. Make SURE the valve springs match the specs of the cam, get the numbers from combo, they might be jiberish to you but comp will know what your talking about. Course combo was awesome to deal with they double checked for me and gave me the right spring part #. On a side note i would just go to gm to buy the new timing sprokets and chain. I didnt see the need in the lt4 extreme deal.

Re: Complete n00b..What Do I all need w/ cam?
Ya just call up combination motorsports and they will get you everything you need and cut you a good deal. You will need a new timing chain, but your lifters may be ok...i like the stock lifters better than comp rs anyways.
BTW i have the same cam and i really like it, it has lots of lope and good power. The power starts to kick in at about 2500rpms and it pulls good to 6500rpms.
You should be happy with your new setup!!
